INTRODUCTION
1.1 The Background of Study Music
is my life. It is often heard that people are talking about it. The music can not be separated from people life because
it is the expression of the emotion or
feeling such as : happiness, sadness, confusion, concern, etc. The fact that music always exists in daily life for example
in the customs and traditions.
Music has many genres, there are
Pop, Rock, Jazz, Reggae, Country, Dangdut,
etc. In this paper the writer wants to describe one of music genres that is Rock.
Rock is a phenomenon does not
only talk about musicality. Moreover, the scope of Rock also covers the social factors
include in the lifestyle. Rock has the big
role in creating the hair style and dress code. It has many concepts such as : Psychedelic Rock, Progressive Rock, Heavy
Metal, Glam Rock, Folk Rock, Punk Rock,
and Alternative Rock.
The top musicians of rock are
almost from Europe, especially from British.
British is a rich country in the
world and has a big influence to develop the music in many countries. Actually British has 4
states namely England, Scotland, Wales, Northern
Ireland. Each of states has many musicians of rock. Furthermore British has many historical places which can be a
witness for the development of the music
rock. Due to the people tendencies of this kind of music the writer id interested in studying the British Rock Music.
1.2 Scope of Study It is important to limit
the topic and to explain things that are going to be written by the writer. The writer does it in
order to avoid the reader from getting confused.
The writer believes that there are many important aspect and genres of music that can be discussed, but in this paper
he talks one of them that is rock music,
especially in British. Moreover the writer hopes that the readers can understand completely what the writer means.
1.3 The Objective of Study As a
student, I write this paper to fill up of requirement to finish my study from D3 English Department, Faculty of
Cultural Science, University of North Sumatera.
1.4 The Significance of Study By
writing this paper the writer knows well about the rock music in British. The writer hopes that the readers get some
benefits from this study.
1.5 The Method of Study The
methods applied to write this paper are the music books, the music magazines, and internet research. These
methods are useful to give an important informationrelated
to this paper.
