INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the study After I carefully
turned out a lot of words contained in the Jakarta Post newspaper that has the
addition of Ing (gerund) which has a different meaning and purpose, therefore, in reading we should be careful to
explain each word, because the gerund is not only one meaning but more than
that. In my paper, I will explain the parts and the use of gerunds in sentences
contained in the newspaper Jakarta post, after I carefully I will add more
functions to gerunds and others who have a variety of meanings and functions.
1.2 Scope of the study The scope of the study is
gerund which consist of the forms and functions.
1.3 Objective of the study Based on the
description of the background above, the writer would like to describe Ing
deeply. The purpose is to make the readers understand about Gerund, so that it can help them in the
process of studying English book, either reading or written.
1.4 Method of the study In writing this paper,
the writer has used the library reasearch. He read and collected some books, aspecially Gerund books.
